Leon Gorman, longtime leader of L.L. Bean, dies at age 80
YARMOUTH (WGME) -- Leon Gorman, longtime leader of L.L. Bean, died after a battle with cancer at his home in Yarmouth.
Gorman was the grandson of L.L. Bean founder, Leon Leonwood Bean.
Gorman led L.L. Bean as CEO or chairman for 46 years. He retired as chairman of the board back in 2013.
Gorman transformed L.L. Bean from a catalog company with a single retail store and 100 employees into a multi-channel retailer with more than 5 thousand employees and sales topping one point five billion dollars.
Gorman was born in Nashua, New Hampshire and raised in Yarmoiuth.
Leon Gorman was 80 years old.
