Sony reveals first phone with 4K display

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

The rumours were true as Sony revealed three phones, most notably the Z5 Premium.
The Z5 and Z5 Compact are follow-ups to the Z3 and Z3 Compact really (featuring the same screen resolution/size for starters), but the third phone is easily the most exciting device we've seen in ages.

The first phone with 4K display
The Z5 Premium is the first smartphone with a 4K display, packing a 5.5-inch "TriLuminos" Display, equivalent to 806 pixels per square inch. Holy moly...
Sony is also promising that video content and photos can be upscaled to 4K (although 4K-quality photos are roughly 8MPs in size anyway).
My first concern is that battery life will be terrible, but Sony is promising a 3430mAh battery and two days of usage. Additionally, the three devices also come with QuickCharge 2.0 technology for fast charging.
And yes, all three devices are waterproof, as was the case for previous handsets.

Common threads
In the horsepower department, all three are powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, while the Z5 and Z5 Premium have 3GBs of RAM. The Z5 Compact has 2GBs of RAM to play with.
The three devices are the same in the camera department, having a fast-focusing 23MP main camera with 5x lossless zoom and a 5MP selfie shooter.
Interestingly enough, Sony took another page out of Microsoft Mobile's book by allowing 4K recording and then letting users pick out 8MP stills ala Moment Capture.
All three devices also feature a side-mounted power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
"Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will launch globally from October 2015, and Xperia Z5 Premium from November 2015 – Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium will be available in both Single SIM and Dual SIM variants," the company said in a press statement.
